Wind power!

Most RVers wanting to be free of electrical hookups install solar panels (that's what I did) but today I spotted an RV owner who obviously marches to a different drum ... he's installed a wind turbine on his Class C.  I've never seen one on an RV before.  Certainly kind of neat, but I wonder how efficient it is compared to a decent solar array.  In contrast with solar, which is mostly a case of install it and forget it, the turbine looks kind of complicated to raise and lower, plus all those moving parts are surely going to require regular TLC.  In any event, an interesting approach to getting an RV off grid.

  1. Do you think that this guy charges while on the road at 70 miles an hour? Sure makes for an efficient "pin wheel" while on the move :-)

He has more room for "sand toys" on his trailer! Oh, perhaps, he drove one off and is driving on the streets, off to Wal-Mart to get supplies.
