Hammond Basin

This morning we discovered Hammond Basin, a great little spot not far from Fort Stevens.  Plenty of space for the dogs to run off leash, a small but isolated little beach, a marina, and would you believe it, a perfectly acceptable RV site, open and sunny, that looks remarkably peaceful, not overrun by kids (see previous post about Fort Stevens), with full hookups, and at $25 a night less expensive than the State Park!

This says it all!

  1. Whew! What a refuge from Fort Stevens! Is that a river that is draining into the ocean/bay in photo #3 with Jane and the dogs, on the right of the photo?

    1. Hammond Basin is a small inlet on the Columbia not far from the mouth of the river

  2. Got it, thanks! I always find it interesting these meetings of streams/rivers to the ocean; they make great areas to see birds.
