Plodding along

A few weeks ago I started the process of ripping out the old analog TV, VHS, and DVD to create more storage space above the cab area.  This has been a rather drawn out affair, fitted in and around lots of other goings-on in my life.  Thankfully it looks as though we're finally entering the home stretch!

One of the doors and its frame, ready for finishing
The process involved building a pair of frames and doors to cover both the TV opening on the driver side and a new enlarged opening on the passenger side (replacing two smaller spaces where the VHS and DVD used to be).

I built the frames a couple of weeks ago, and now the panel doors are done, so it's on to finishing and fitting!

The frames and doors are built from white oak.  To match the original oak finish in my 2003 Premier I'll be using Minwax Golden Oak oil based stain, followed by three coats of Varathane clear gloss oil based finish.

Once the frames are attached to the bulkhead, the doors will be hung with Blum 1" overlay hinges.
With luck and a fair wind everything will be done just in time for our departure next week.  Fingers crossed!
